As a business, we have always taken our role as a local employer seriously by supporting a variety of
Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in the local area.
Feeding Families is Durham Box’s chosen charity, which we have been supporting for a number of years. The charity is a project in the NE of England set up to alleviate food poverty at Christmas and other times of the year. In 2019 the charity matched
1700 donors to families in need of a little extra help at Christmas. The support is in the form of providing all packing boxes, designed and printed free of charge. Durham Box also donates food and assists in packing the boxes annually.
Other initiatives in 2020 have included:
- Community Foundation – ‘Investing in Children’ project during Coronavirus, providing families with a summer box of personalised gifts. Packing boxes supplied.
- St. John's C of E Primary School, Shildon Year 6 (2020) leavers gift boxes – designed and supplied printed boxes.
- The Auckland Project – providing meals and food trays to people needing it most during the COVID-19 pandemic. Provided 3000 corrugated boxes.
- Rollercoaster – parent support project, helping families who are caring for children and young people with mental health issues. Provided 200 printed boxes for a recent initiative.
- Local Heroes NE – supporting partner. Local Heroes North East is a campaign from Food and Drink North East (FADNE) to raise the profile of and safeguard regional food and drink businesses in the North East of England. The purchase of every box includes a 10% ‘community fund’ that will be used to support producers and those working with the vulnerable and socially isolated.
